Terengganu is one of the Malaysian states which are endowed with a wealth of charming and refreshing natural landscapes. Terengganu has beaches, exotic islands, lush virgin tropical jungle, quaint fishing villages, dazzling waterfalls and many more. However, from November to January, avoid travelling to this place. During this time, the north-east monsoon blows leading to heavy rainfall. I having academic trip to Terengganu last two weeks with my classmate (HM245). Actually my first visit to Terengganu last week was very tough.
I would like to shared my experience on having dinner at some unique restaurant in Terengganu. My first dinner in Terengganu was located at RAHSIA Kitchen, Jalan Budiman. What make me questioned in mind, why the names of this restaurant so unique and mystery? I can said that this open-dining restaurant was suitable place for couple and small group of member to enjoy their meal. What make this restaurant look unique is on how the design and decoration play their role. The business hours are on Monday to Wednesday at 5:30 pm - 12:00 am, and for Friday to Sunday at 5:30 pm - 12:00 am. Do not judge the book by its cover, why I said that? RAHSIA Kitchen located at road side where bright lighting catch people eyes to go there. Besides that, the restaurant has large black and white banner sign of “RAHSIA” in front of their entrance. This restaurant opened in a compound of a house, with small number of tables and chairs. However all this can be cover with their special foods and services.
Let's talk about the food:
Buffet dinner. The concept of all you can eat. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, the layout is very nice and it always appears relaxed and quiet. The aroma of food came from their open-kitchen brought me to the buffet table. I was excited after saw the beautiful and delicious foods arranged on the table. I started to felt hungry. The Ceaser Salad and RAHSIA Shepherd Pie as their appetizer. The Ceaser Salad presentation was on-point. The golden crunchy crouton with shredded chicken breast and topped with mayonnaise dressing make the salad so interesting. The salad texture and consistency itself was perfect because of the crunchiness and meaty with shredded chicken. The Shepherd’s pie was such a nice combination of flavors. The pie’s taste like bolognaise sauce.
The dinner buffet line consists of two sections of cuisine which is Western cuisine and Eastern cuisine. The range of main courses included the Chicken Roulade platter, the Grilled Sliced Beef both are accompanied with selection of sauce, barbecue sauce and black pepper sauce, Laksa Nyonya’s station with several condiments such as hard-boiled eggs, beans sprout, springs onion, cut chilies, and fried shallot and lime, and Kampung Fried Rice. All the foods are arranged in harmonies of combination by its color and presentation. Last but not less, cut fruits and Brownies served with Caramel sauce as the dessert.
The chicken roulade was looking so delicious accompanied with blanched fresh broccoli and bright color of blanched carrot. Literally meaning "to roll" in French, the word roulade signifies a lot of things. Traditionally, it's a preparation reserved for boneless, skinless chicken breasts, stuffed with cheeses, vegetables, and other meat that mashed the bland flavor of processed chicken. I had told by their chef that this menu was the most ordered by customer who comes to their restaurant. By hearing that, I cannot wait to taste it by myself. This chicken was so moist I could cut it with my fork. The chicken breast was rolled up with combination of creamy cheese, chopped mushroom and a slice of turkey ham. What makes this Chicken Roulade so amazing was the golden outer part still crunchy. I can feel the cheese melting inside my mouth. Marvelous!!! Barbecue sauce was the perfect match. I fell in love with this food. Highly recommend it. Just trust me on this one. The price are reasonable you can get at RM 15.00 (a la carte price).
The Grilled Sliced Beef was blend perfectly by it marination, served with delicious, shiny and spicy black pepper sauce. Then again, the black pepper sauce has really been overwhelmingly flavorful to me. That’s make me crazy for a while. However, texture of the beef was too chewy. Actually I does not very disappointed with that because it is normal, how can we get good quality grilled beef at reasonable price? It’s price maybe higher than this.
For those who search something different at Terengganu you should come to this restaurant. RAHSIA Kitchen was the great place to dine-in, offered various of foods. Moreover, burgers, Italian cuisine, Japanese cuisine, sandwiches, steak and Sushi also available here.
